Deep application for inert ceramic balls

Time:2025-04-27

Inert ceramic balls are widely used in the industries such as petrochemicals, environmental protection, and natural gas. They are mainly used as supporting and covering materials for catalysts in reactors, providing protection for the catalysts inside the reactor. It also has the ability to maintain stability in strong acid, strong alkali, and high temperature environments, is not easily subjected to chemical reactions with other substances, and can be used for a long time in high-speed flowing gases or liquids without being damaged.

How to choose a suitable ceramic ball?

1. Material: This article introduces inert alumina ceramic balls, which can withstand high temperatures ranging from 1000~1600° C with different Al2O3 ceramic balls, suitable for the petrochemical and coal chemical industries.

2. Size: Usually large size ceramic balls, such as 20-50mm, are laid on the bottom of the equipment and mainly serve as support; Small size ceramic balls, such as 3-10mm, are usually filled around the catalyst to improve fluid distribution.

3. Crush strength: Ceramic balls with same size generally have a compressive strength higher than 500N/pcs; High alumina ceramic balls, such as 99% Al2O3, generally have a compressive strength higher than 1000N/pcs and are used in high-pressure reactors, such as petroleum hydrogenation.

So, in what condition can inert ceramic balls be applied?

1. Chemical reaction control: Inert ceramic balls can prevent unnecessary side reactions and ensure the smooth progress of the main reaction, especially playing an irreplaceable role in fields such as synthetic chemistry and petrochemicals

2. Gas purification: Due to its excellent wear resistance and chemical stability, inert ceramic balls are often used as filter materials in gas purification devices to remove impurities from the gas and ensure its purity.

3. Laboratory application: In the laboratory, inert ceramic balls are used for chemical analysis and experimental reactions to ensure the accuracy of experimental results.

4. Other fields: Inert ceramic balls are also used in the ceramic industry, metallurgy, electronics, and other fields, such as the production of advanced ceramic products, separation and filtration in metal smelting processes, and the manufacture high-purity chemicals.
