Adsorbents for air compressed dryer

Time:2025-04-10

In industrial production, it is important to keep the air or gas dry, and air compressed dryers have become indispensable equipment. So what adsorbents can make the dryer work efficiently? I will introduce three commonly used adsorbents as follows:

1.Silica alumina gel:  Natural dehumidifier experter

Silica alumina gel, as one of the most commonly used materials in compresed dryers, stands out for its excellent dehumidification performance and chemical stability. It has a porous structure that can absorb and fix a large amount of water like a sponge, and can maintain stable performance even in high temperatures or extreme environments. In addition, the regeneration process of silicone gel is relatively simple, and the adsorbed water can be released by heating, achieving recycling and greatly reducing operating costs.

2. Activated alumina: Efficient and economical choice

In addition to silica alumina gel, activated alumina is also an important component of air compressed dryers. It is a high-strength adsorbent material that can withstand the high-pressure impact of compressed air without pulverization, and has stable adsorption performance. Compared with silica alumina gel, activated alumina has higher adsorption capacity and faster adsorption speed, making it particularly suitable for handling high humidity or high flow air. At the same time, the price of activated alumina is relatively more economical, which making it highly favored in some situations where cost is strictly required. However, it is worth noting that activated alumina is sensitive to temperature, and excessively high temperatures may lead to a decrease in its performance and prevent deep drying. Therefore, strict control of operating conditions is required during use.

3. Molecular sieve: High adsorption capacity, it preferentially adsorbs water

Molecular sieve is a porous material with high adsorption capacity and selectivity, which can selectively adsorb water and gases. Its adsorption capacity is approximately three times than activated alumina, making it suitable for applications that require deep drying. However, molecular sieves have low strength and are prone to pulverization under high-intensity compressed air impact, so they can only be used in small quantities in traditional adsorption dryers.

In practical applications, the material selection of adsorption dryers is not fixed, but needs to be flexibly matched and optimized according to specific usage scenarios and needs.

For example, in situations where rapid dehumidification is required, activated alumina can be prioritized. In situations where higher requirements are placed on stability and durability, due to the ability of silica alumina gel to achieve deep drying under dew point conditions of -50 ° C ~ -30 ° C, and WS and H type silica alumina gel work together and are more resistant to liquid water impact, silica alumina gel can be chosen as the main adsorbent material.
